Counting sheep had to be put on hold a bit early this morning. |
This morning I wanted to sleep in and count a few more sheep but I had to rise early in order to be able to start and finish today's rowing before bee-ing visited by a bee-person. There is a newly established bee colony in a tree near the house and I decided to try a professional solution instead of doing it my own way with a bucket of ashes as I did last year.
So far, the bees have been very friendly, like the bee pictured below on the right. But now that the bee-guy is here, all suited up in his beekeeper suit, I'm staying in the house in case the bees get ticked off, like the bee pictured below left.

Easy going bees like the one on the right are my favorite bees to hang out with. |

In this photo you can see part of the beekeeper-suit clad man as he is working on the other side of the tree, evacuating bees before sealing the tree. |
Today's rowing session was designed to bee very nice to my body after yesterday's indulgence of pushing it a little bit for a season best 10K.
So the target today was to stay as near as possible to the very bottom edge of heart zone 1, plus or minus 2 beats/minute. The bottom edge of zone 1 is 133 bpm. Another target/goal today was to do the entire 10K without accompaniment of music or anything to watch in the way of video or tv and to focus singularly on the balance of effort and heart rate. In the photo below you can see that the screen on the left, which would normally be displaying surf scenes if I was listening to music, or something else if watching tv or a video... is dark because it was never switched on. It worked well and time seemed to pass quickly.

Left screen remained dark because focus was only on rowing effort. |
